In relation to the above subject matter, CYFA would like to inform its members that on the 23rd January 2023, it has communicated to the Registrar a number of concerns associated with the new procedure for access to the Beneficial Owner’s Register as announced on the 3rd January 2023 (please click here). The Association is of the opinion that the new procedure, initiated with the purpose to cease access to the Registry for the general public, could potentially raise further challenges as in practice no control mechanism to certify the identity of the applicant appears to be in place. Therefore, it is important that stricter controls are enforced to avoid access misuse while ensuring at the same time its implementation scope.
